This trial aims to different types of stem cells for the treatment of cerebral palsy. The trial is being conducted at the General Hospital of the People's Armed Police Forces Hospital in Beijing and proposes to recruit 60 patients with cerebral palsy (with MRI evident white-matter hyperplasia). Participants will be randomly divided between three groups. One group will receive intravenous (IV) infusions of mesenchymal stem cells derived from their own bone marrow. A second group will receive a different type of bone marrow cell (mononuclear cells). The third group will only receive conventional treatment (the control group). Participants will be monitored for complications and changes in clinical condition. The trial was scheduled to complete in December 2012 but it is unclear if results have been published.
