This trial is designed to evaluate the use of the patient’s own blood stem cells for the treatment of motor neurone disease. The trial is being conducted by Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca in conjunction with Fundacion para la Formacion e Investigacion Sanitarias de la Region de Murcia. Participants will be divided into three groups. The first experimental group will receive stem cells obtained from their own bone marrow directly into the spinal cord via a laminectomy (T3-T4). The second experimental group will receive their stem cells into the fluid around their spinal cord (intrathecal injection). The third group will be a control group and will receive an intrathecal injection. Participants will be monitored for complications, as well as changes in their clinical condition. The trial expects to enrol 63 subjects by October 2014.
