This trial is investigating the effect of donated umbilical cord blood in the treatment lupus nephritis, an inflammation of the kidney caused by a disease of the immune system (systemic lupus erythematosus). Participants in the study will be divided into the control group which will receive standard treatment (immunosuppression with cyclo-phosphamide), or the treatment groups that will receive donated cord.  Patients and researchers will not know what group they were in. The trial is being conducted by Cytomed & Beike in conjunction with the Kunming Medical University in Yunan. Participants will be assessed six months after their treatment for either partial or complete remission of their nephritis.
