This trial is designed to evaluate the use of nerve stem cells in patients with Age Related Macular Degeneration. The trial is being conducted at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford, Stanford Hospital and Clinics in conjunction with StemCells Inc. Participants will be divided into two groups with the stem cells provided in different doses. The cells used in the trial have been obtained from foetal tissue (referred to as HuCNS-SC cells) and will be transplanted under the retina of one eye. Participants will be monitored for complications as well as structural evidence of successful engraftment and changes to vision. The trial expects to enrol 16 subjects.
