This trial aims to investigate the use of the patient's own bone marrow stem cells in treating patients with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The trial is being conducted by the Royan Institute in Teheran and proposes to recruit 10 patients between September 2012 and December 2013. Participants will have bone marrow stem cells harvested, separated and infused intravenously. Participants will be monitored for complications, as well as changes in their clinical condition. This study is similar to another study also being performed at the Royan Institute (NCT01759784) on MND patients except that the mesenchymal stem cells are administered directly into the brain (intraventricular injection).
