Cell Reprogramming and Differentiation Professor Jose Polo
Joseph is a PhD Student at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute, Monash
Recipient of scholarship
The theoretical ability to convert any cell type of the body into other cell types holds great promise for regenerative medicine, and disease modeling, since every cell in the body contains the same genome. The process of deriving a combination of factors to convert one cell type to another, called cell reprogramming, has been of great interest in recent years. Joseph’s PhD project utilizes a seminal approach of using a predictive computational framework, Mogrify, to reprogram target cell types. Through this application, he seeks to establish novel strategies for direct cell conversion and differentiation to a variety of cell types.
