Understanding of adult stem cell biology has important implications in tissue regeneration and aging.  My research primarily focuses on the basic adult stem cell biology using mouse testis as a model. I am particularly interested in characterizing the regulatory mechanisms and signaling pathways that control stem cell behavior and function, for example, the TSC22D family proteins. While TSC22D proteins are known to be involved in diverse physiological functions including regulating of cellular growth, development, tumor suppression and inflammatory responses, their functional relevance in germline stem cell is not known. Therefore, my Ph.D. project is to investigate the mechanistic roles of TSC22D in regulating adult stem cell maintenance.
