Tom’s PhD examines the capabilities and limitations of kidney organoids cultured from patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells to study inherited kidney diseases.
Tom is also a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where he treats children with chronic kidney diseases, including dialysis and kidney transplantation. He completed his medical undergraduate training at Monash University in Melbourne in 2005, and completed physician’s training in Paediatric Nephrology in 2015 through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Tom commenced his PhD studies in 2016 and hopes to identify a novel or repurposed medication that can be translated into clinical practice for the treatment of kidney disease in children.
