Breast cancer stem cell researcher elected to Australian Academy of Science

Professor Jane Visvader has been elected to the Australian Academy of Science (image courtesy of WEHI) Stem Cells Australia congratulates WEHI's Professor Jane Visvader on her election to the Australian Academy of Science.

Professor Martin Pera, Chair of Stem Cell Sciences at the University of Melbourne commented, "Jane Visvader's pioneering research on breast cancer stem cells has had an enormous impact on the field internationally.

Her team has made major contributions to our understanding of the biology of the mammary gland in health and disease, and their discoveries have helped shape current thinking on the role of stem cells in cancer.  

I am delighted that this leading stem cell researcher has been awarded this prestigious recognition of her achievements by the Academy."
