Mark Denham to head lab at Danish research institute

19 November 2013
Congratulations Mark on your appointment to DANDRITE

Congratulations to Stem Cells Australia member, Dr Mark Denham, on his recent appointment as Group Leader of the human pluripotent stem cell laboratory at the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE).

Whilst at The University of Melbourne, Mark was part of Stem Cells Australia’s Neural Regeneration and Repair team. Along with Mirella Dottori and others, he made important contributions to studies of human pluripotent stem cells into neural lineages. We wish him all the best in his new role in Denmark as an independent Principle Investigator.

Mark’s research is focused on how the nervous system develops and the processes involved in neurodegeneration. His future work aims at using mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons as an in vitro model for studying the mechanisms that underlie the onset of Parkinson’s disease. This research will aim for translational and clinical medicine.
