MCRI and KidGen: Meet the scientists

Free event for patients and the general community to meet the scientists involved in research into kidney disease and learn more about the KidGen multidisciplinary clinics that operate throughout Australia.

To be held at the Ella Latham Auditorium at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne on 21 September 2017 between 6:00-8:00PM.

Dr Cathy Quinlan, the nephrologist leading the Melbourne Genomics Kidney Genetics Flagship will join Professor Melissa Little and Drs Lorna Hale and Sara Howden from The Kidney Development, Disease and Regeneration Laboratory at the Murdoch Childrens’ Research Institute to describe how samples and data collected from KidGen multidisciplinary clinics throughout Australia might be used to further research into kidney disease.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The Australian Genomics Research Program –bringing genomic medicine into patient clinics
  • Kidney in a dish
  • Modelling kidney disease in the laboratory
  • Genome editing –Using CRISPR-Cas9
